For a couple decades now, I can remember flipping through the channels and coming across this fuzzy haired guy that was painting the most beautiful landscape pictures. Eventually I realized he was on PBS, and would secretly look for him at times. I do not come from a family that is very artistic, so feeling drawn to this “painting stuff” seemed odd to me. And this “Bob” guy… I couldn’t figure him out; He was always happy, and happy to be painting. The one thing that was clear was that he was helping me believe that I could do this style of painting. Well, as I mentioned, I was still a couple decades away from realizing how true that thought was, and that my knack for painting was buried deep inside me.

One day while working downstate on a job that was not in my territory, and should have been completed a couple hours earlier, I found myself talking to a man that I had never met before. He was telling me that he was a painter, and wondered if I wanted to see his paintings. I, not being the least bit artistic, said “sure lets take a look”. Again, I should have been done hours ago, and I have never touched a paint brush in my life.

This guys name was Stan. He explained that he had only been painting for about six months or so. I was absolutely blown away. “There is no way you have only been painting for six months, you are amazing”. He assured me that he was telling the truth and that he was already a certified instructor for the Bob Ross Company and that He could teach me to paint like this with just one lesson. “Get outta here… you’re kiddin. I have never touched a paint brush, and wouldn’t even know where to begin”. Again, Stan assured me that it is all a learn-able skill and that in one lesson He could teach me to paint a similar picture, on a canvas. I remember thinking to myself, “Oh, you paint on canvas?” boy was I a rookie.

Well, I left his in-home studio and went straight to the store where Stan was going to be teaching, and signed up for his class. It was beginning to sink in that Stan was affiliated with that fuzzy haired guy from decades ago. I knew that there was a reason that I had been drawn to that TV show years ago, and its making sense as to why I was sent to this goofy job downstate. Its even ironic that my schedule was behind so much that Stan was at home in the evening and willing to give me a tour of his home and studio. This was all too crazy. I felt like even though it is out of character for me to paint, I needed to follow this through. Too many things seemed to fall into place and Stan was so nice and helpful that I had to pursue this.

Stan was right. With just one lesson, I had painted a masterpiece equal to Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Okay, this is an exaggeration, but I was impressed if I do say so myself. I had no idea that I could paint. I was standing there looking at snow covered mountains, trees, a lake with a reflection, clouds, even a cabin in the woods. And I painted it all myself. This painting was truly something I enjoyed doing, and I am not the type to have hobbies. I absolutely love this style of painting.

Thanks to Stan’s kindness and willingness to share his talents with me, I have become a more rounded individual. I plan to get my certification and become a Bob Ross Instructor in the next year too. I look forward to assisting someone as they stumble onto a new experience, and tell them what they can accomplish with just one lesson.

If you are interested in having the time and money to paint as I do, or perhaps gain more control of your family life and having money to set aside for those golden years, feel free to visit this site and see how I was able to get control of my financial world at http://www.LegitimateBusinessFromHome.net/?RossArticle1 . There is a FREE document that I give away that will assist you as you search for a Legitimate Home Business. This business has nothing to do with painting, except that it is the vehicle I used to create time and money, which allows me to pursue my “hobbies”.

Securing a work at home job can take a lot of time, patience, and persistence. Unfortunately, by the time most people begin searching for a job to do at home, they are already in a severe financial bind and need to begin earning right away. That’s just not realistic with most work at home jobs and businesses. However, it is very possible to begin earning some income almost immediately by using your existing skills and abilities.

The first step is to figure out exactly what your skills are. Don’t say you don’t have any. Everyone has things they are good at. Whether your skills have been learned in a job or everyday life doesn’t matter. What type of work have you done in the past? Are you good with accounting, clerical work, filing, typing? Look at your hobbies and interests also. Can you design web pages, take great photographs, sew, knit? Do you love children or animals? Are you a great organizer or cleaner? Do you love to shop? Write down all of your skills, abilities, and interests.

Once you know what you can do, figure out a way to use those skills to earn some money. Get creative! Think in terms of products or services. What products or services can you provide that others will find value in? Big hint: people are always looking for ways to save time, save money, or improve their quality of life. Can you help them do that?

Here are some examples of ways you could use your skills: shopping, cleaning, organizing, party planning, childcare, pet-sitting/dog-walking, taking pets to veterinary appointments, errand service for Moms or elderly, assisting small businesses in your area with clerical work, painting (both interior and exterior), junk removal, yardwork, taking photographs at special events or tourist attractions, making and selling craft items at fairs or flea markets, designing websites for small local businesses, catering or cooking.

That’s just the tip of the iceburg, but you get the idea. Once you have some ideas for possible businesses you could do, find out what legal requirements you’d have for starting a business like that in your home. Call your Town Clerk’s office and your state’s Dept. of Revenue to find out what paperwork or licenses you’d need to get started.

Then research the going rates for the work you’re considering. If you’re really not sure how much to charge, consider how much you’d like to earn per hour, and ask yourself whether most people would be willing to pay that or not. You don’t want to under-charge and make it not worth your while, but you also don’t want to charge ridiculous rates that people wouldn’t pay. Your rate per hour will vary depending on the type of work you’re doing, but in a general sense, try to keep your rates reasonable while still paying yourself what you’re worth.

Then you can start marketing. Marketing does not have to be expensive. Make up some flyers yourself or have a print shop do it, and begin posting them on public bulletin boards. You can also pay for an inexpensive classified ad in your local newspaper. You might need to invest a little money to get started, but there is no need to spend hundreds of dollars. Start small. Once you begin building a client base you can always pay for more advertising. You can also have some business cards made up (or make your own) to pass out to potential clients. Don’t be afraid to approach your target market directly, either! If you want to provide a service to small local businesses, go in and introduce yourself. Tell them who you are and what you do. Leave a flyer with them. Don’t sit home waiting for the phone to ring, get out there and make it happen.

Having an organized work space can make working at home much more enjoyable and less ofdrudgery. A disorganized workspace adds extra stress to your day and makes you dread goinginto your office. Following a few simple organizational tips will get your office in properworking order which will help you work more efficiently and with greater enthusiasm.

Tips for Organizing your Home Office:

· Remove clutter-if you do not need it regularly remove it from the office. Regularlyreview incoming mail and other papers and throw out anything you don’t absolutelyneed.

· Put most needed items within arm’s length of the desk. This saves time jumping up tograb the item or digging through a pile to find it. Everything on your desk should beorganized with the most used items the closet and working outward in order of thefrequency with which the items are used.

· Have a place for everything (and everything in its place!). Make use of inexpensivebaskets or plastic containers, even from a resale shop, garage sale or discount store.Everything should have a definite place. Arrange files that are frequently accessed in astanding rack on your desk (these are very cheap to purchase). The goal is to be able tosee everything and access it quickly when you need to. The other thing you accomplishwith this is being able to quickly determine where something belongs when putting thingsaway. Every minute you save not having to think about what to do with something is aminute you can spend on more productive activities.

· Items that are used infrequently can be stored in a cabinet or on a high shelf . There is noneed to store reams of paper or extra office supplies on your desk. Move these into acabinet or a shelf that is less accessible and save the premium office “real estate” for theitems you need on a daily basis.

· Do not store household items in the office (or office space if you are not fortunate enoughto have a complete room for your home office). All too often, the home office becomes adumping zone, housing everything from junk mail to Christmas decorations. It isimportant to keep a professional atmosphere in the home office in order to work at yourfull potential and all family members (including yourself) need to know that the office isoff limits as a storage facility.

Being more organized will help you get much more accomplished each day. You will save timeand aggravation while doing your daily tasks and your home business will become much moreenjoyable for you to work on. Working from home is a great privilege, but should not be takenlightly. Home business office organization is absolutely vital to the success of your homebusiness endeavours. By taking just a few minutes per day to work on organizing your homeoffice you can transform your workspace and your business in a very short amount of time.

There’s nothing like getting paid to do something you love. The good news is, as an animal lover, opportunities abound for you to do just that. If you’re looking to start a home-based pet business but aren’t sure which doggie path to take, check out these five options.

1. Pooper Scooper. It’s a dirty job, but someone’s got to do it. And that’s the whole point. There are many people who will gladly pay for this service. Create a flyer that says something like, “Got Poop? I’ll Scoop!” Then hand them out to your neighbors, relatives and friends. If they don’t have a dog, chances are they know someone who does and will pass the information along.

Another variation (if the yard doesn’t need cleaning up) is offering to clean kitty litter boxes, bird and pocket pet cages, and fish tanks/bowls/aquariums.

2. Pet Photographer. Why not combine your passion for photography with your love of animals? Practice on your own pets before offering your services to others. Once you have the techniques down (because getting pets to sit still is definitely a technique!) come up with some creative props and settings for different types of animals. Then think of something you can offer that’s different from other photographers. This idea may take some time to research and get in place, but the pay-off may be well worth it.

3. Pet Exercise. Are you looking to lose weight? How about getting paid to do it? Get in shape in no time while spending time with the animals you love. This isn’t limited to dog walking. Offer to play fetch in the backyard. Play with the cat. Or sit outside with a rabbit or guinea pig. Many pet owners desire to do these things with their pets but often just don’t have the time and have no problem paying someone to make sure their animals get proper care and exercise.

4. Pet Items Delivery. Some pet items can conveniently be picked up during weekly grocery shopping. Other items need a special run to the pet store. Why not contact potential customers and offer to make a weekly or bi-weekly run? Set aside specific days that you will make the necessary trip to purchase the items that customers need for their pets. Personally deliver each customer’s order, along with an itemized receipt. Charge a flat fee for each trip. If a run to more than one store is necessary, charge a fee per stop. You’ll find many people also tip for this service. It may take some time to develop your customer base, but once you do, the sky is the limit. The only thing you have to worry about is fitting everything in your vehicle!

5. Grooming. This is the only idea listed here that requires some professional training. There are various dog grooming schools, including some carefully monitored online courses that allow you to learn on your own. You’ll need to decide whether you want to handle only the shampooing and hair grooming or if you’ll add things like nail trimming and ear cleaning. Gain sufficient experience by grooming your family pets and take photos to use as samples when attracting new clients.

There will never be a shortage of people looking for good, quality care for their pets. And because you love animals, you may just be the one to provide it.

So you’ve decided to start a home-based business? That’s great, but where do you start? If you’re online quite a bit, then there’s no reason you can’t start a business right from your own home on the Web. There are so many resources available online today that you can benefit tremendously from the research of others while building your own business. And, there are many companies that will do lots of the work for you when you join with them.

Here are five easy start-up ideas for your home-based business to save you time and money.

1. Choose Your Hours

Decide how much time you will be able to invest in your home-based business. To be honest, there are many new business owners who never make it because they’re not willing to invest their time. If you work a full-time job and plan to keep it while your home-based business builds, then you should determine how many free hours you can spend working. Can you invest a few hours per day, or week perhaps?

Once you choose your hours, stick with them on a consistent basis. Treat the home business just as you would a store with operating hours. If you open a store from 9 to 5, then someone must be there during those hours. So, if you plan to work on your new business from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. five nights per week, then let this be your “operating hours!”

2. Choose a Business

Even if you plan to start a business selling products of your own, you might find it useful to join with a company to sell their products to build extra income at first. You can even do both if you can invest enough time and effort into both businesses. Choose a product or service that you enjoy selling. No business is fun if you dislike it. The more you enjoy it, the more likely you are to be successful.

With the Internet, MLM businesses are building down lines like crazy. This is the perfect opportunity for you to earn some extra cash or even a substantial income. The reason MLM businesses are so profitable online is because it is so easy to contact people by email and through your own website. Some MLM companies even do most of the work and contacts for you to save you time and money. Communication is very easy online even if you’re not really a “salesperson.”

If you plan to join an MLM group, be sure to choose a reputable company that has been in business for at least several years. Ask to speak with others who have worked with the company a while. Check with the Better Business Bureau Online to be sure there have been no (or very few) complaints. There are many scams online today, so sign on with a well-established MLM company to be safe!

3. Prepare Your Home-Based Business Work Area

Before you start a home-based business, be sure your home office is up to par. Upgrade your computer to a fast one with a super-fast Internet connection so your work will not be hindered by outside factors. Also, get a very comfortable desk chair with plenty of back and arm support. Choose a keyboard and mouse that you’re comfortable with, and organize your desk. Working in a well-organized environment clears your thinking so you can work and promote without distraction.

4. Investing Your Money

Before you invest a dime, be certain it’s the right business for you. When selling products for others, you might be asked to invest money before getting started for inventory, membership, a website, and so forth. If so, study every aspect of the business before doing so. Any business start-up will require some monetary investment, but you need to think before you invest.

Once you’ve chosen a business to invest in, set up a budget solely for your business. Having a business account at your local bank will help. Also, set up an account with an online payment processor if possible. PayPal and StormPay are two of the most popular ones online right now. If signing on with an MLM company, find out how they issue their payments first.

5. Use Your Talents and Skills

Whether you sign on with an MLM company or start a business selling your own products and services, remember to use all your talents and skills. Maybe you’re a great typist or a very savvy Internet user. Perhaps you know how to design websites, printed flyers, or promote online.
You know you are ready to work at home for your business, and you know you have the desire and motivation for it to succeed, but you have no idea where to begin? It might be difficult for you to choose a business that will work for you. First, think about your skills and interests, and be open to the idea of doing several closely related things. There is fine line between many home based jobs and home based businesses, and sometimes you are doing both at the same time.

When choosing your new home based business venture, make sure you don’t base your decision solely on the potential income. Instead, choose ideas that you would enjoy doing, or have a strong interest in learning and doing, because you’ll be spending a lot of time doing them. Of course, income potential should be considered, but definitely should not be the sole reason for choosing a type of home business.

There are some work at home business you can readily start like. I know a retired teacher who make a gross of over 80k pesos a month just by transforming her home into a tutorial service offering both English and Chinese subjects near Binondo area in Manila. The students come after school in the afternoon. Her setup was simple and her expense was two additional teachers she hired to help with tutoring.
